School Council

At St Mark's all children have a ‘right to say what they think in decisions that are being made about the school’

We hold elections for our School Council at the beginning of the school year.  We are fortunate to have Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council visit the school to run the voting process.  Each child is allowed to vote using an official ballot paper, in an official voting booth and post their vote in an official ballot box.  The results for each class are then carefully counted (and checked) by our experts and the results are announced in a whole school assembly at the end of the school day.  This system allows children the  opportunity  to experience what ‘real-life’ voting is like and helps reinforce the elements of Rights, Respect and Responsibility as well.
