Year 5

Our Spring term in Year 5 started with an exciting trip to Queen Mary’s College Science centre. The children took part in a variety of activities to help them to learn about The Earth, Sun and Moon. They had the opportunity to explore Constellations and learn about the planets.

We then had a visit from an Artist Rosie Phillips. She brought some of her sketchbooks and artwork to share with the children and talked about her experiences and influences. She shared lots of tips and techniques and the children were really inspired by her work and enthused to then have a go at sketching and building in some of the new techniques that they had learnt.

Most recently, the Gordon Brown centre came to school and the children thoroughly enjoyed designing and making rockets. They chose a name for their rocket and launched them on the school field to see how far they travelled.
